Cretico Cantina Tollo was awarded with the only gold medal never won before at the “Meilleurs Chardonnay du Monde” copetition.

The best Chardonnay in the world is from Abruzzo and speaks Italian. Cretico Chardonnay 2009 Cantina Tollo won a gold medal at the Concours Meilleurs Chardonnay du Monde. Cantina Tollo was the only Italian winery to receive the most important award, while Sottesoli and Planeta, two considerable wineries from Sicily have been given 7 silver medals.
The Concours Chardonnay du Monde, at its 18th edition takes place in Burgundy, in the heart of Broully denomination. Together with 914 wines from 38 countries, the contest is the most important for this type of wine. “ the gold medal won at the Concours Meilleurs Chardonnay du Monde enriches Cantina Tollo record of achievements” - States Cantina Tollo manager Giancarlo Di Ruscio- just after its debut in 2004 Cretico was awarded with the Great Gold Medal at the Montreal worldwide competition in Canada.

It is the proof that we can compete also on the International vines market with the best wines in the world.
The award arrives after the title Best Rosé Wine in the world given to Hedos by the Club del la Presse in Bordeaux, the best Autochthonous Red Wine given to Cagiolo by Decanter in England and the prize for 2010 Best Wine Producer in Europe received by Mundus Wines in Germany. “ The prize was given to Cretico for the vintage 2009. It is just in 2009 that we decided to make of Cretico a more modern wine, lowering its alcohol content and the ageing in wood. We brought forward the harvest ten days earlier and reduced from 18 to 12 months the ageing in barrique. The Gold Medal proves that we made the right choices.” Concludes the oenologist from Cantina Tollo, Riccardo Brighigna.
